It was sublime.

This past weekend, besides trekking out into the sights and sounds of touristy Brussels I had the rare alone-time opportunity to poke around our hood. There's this one park, Jardin du Roi, that's literally at the end of our street, maybe a block away. And on Saturdays and Sundays, at the other end of our street, there's a farmer's market. A farmer's market that offers amazing, fresh produce, quiche, a wide variety of rotisserie fowl (chicken, pheasant, Cornish hens, etc.), cheeses, meats, olives. And chairs.
And as I'm walking and trying so hard not to look so American and obnoxious with my camera and my super-lousy French I hear these unbelievable church bells. Right from the Sound of Music. Hit me like a ton of bricks.

Have you been transfigured by the cityscape? I have just looking at your pictures. I does look and feel sublime!

I have so many more, this is only just a fraction. If I could come up with some sort of scratch'n sniff way of conveying the fresh baked goods we'd all be in 7th heaven.

do not deny yourself -- eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow you might live in brookline (or brooklyn).

btw -- your writing is wonderful -- keep up the great work (no irony -- simple truth).

yours,

Mr. Fred
