Just a coupla tips:
- don't watch the pot
- don't get distracted while not watching the pot
- don't forget that you're distracted while not watching the pot
- maybe don't leave the house with your distracted self, forgetting that you were boiling water
- don't be surprised to find a wrecked pot with no boiled water upon your return. And a super hot kitchen.
Boil Water Advisory for Brookline is in effect.
UPDATE::ADVISORY IS OFF. WATER IS CLEAN. (AND PLEASE WATCH YOUR POTS.)

Eeep. That's scary, but sort of funny too.
Once I came home after being out of the house for 12 hours and thought my kitchen felt really warm. It was then that I noticed my small toaster oven was on. I must have hit the start bar when I was packing my lunch that morning so it had been on for over 12 hours. Double eeep.
You know....toaster ovens scare me for that very reason. A little box of fire sitting on your counter for godknows how long.....
(glad to know we both survived!)
